We define philanthropy as the giving of resources in an engaged and strategic way for maximum impact and in a tax efficient manner. It can include the giving of money, assets, time, talent, voice and one’s social capital. We believe in the power of philanthropy as a great social connector and the source of many great opportunities.

International Women's Initiative Annual Gala

28
Oct
6:00 pm

Join the International Women's Initiative for their very first Gala Event in London. You will be treated to great speakers, drinks, music and networking to support the efforts of the International Women's Initiative to bring attention to women’s human rights globally, and specifically their flagship project the Safe Birthing Programme (http://bit.ly/2a4KWLy) set up to help reduce the maternal death rate in Northern Uganda.

Each birthing kit they provide to local health centres costs just under £1 to put together but this small amount of money can mean the difference between life and death for mothers and their newborns. Each ticket purchased for the event means many more birthing kits will be able to be provided to Ugandan community health centres.

Special guest speakers include Dr. Gina Heathcote, Senior Lecturer in Gender Studies and International Law and Chair of the SOAS Centre for Gender Studies, as well as Mandy Forrester, Head of Quality and Standards, The Royal College of Midwives.

Also a performance by the SHE Choir London performing (http://bit.ly/2a7uJYy) and delicious food/drink very kindly donated by Salt & Dry catering, Crate Brewery, Gosnell's London Mead, Beavertown Brewery, The Vegan Nigerian, Onidodo catering, The Five Points Brewing Company, Wild Card Brewing Company, Soffle's Pita Chips and Barefoot & Bubbly wine. So much good stuff!

IWI will also be having a raffle with great prizes to be won, including a FitBit, dinner for two at Zoe's Ghana Kitchen, original artwork, custom made floral crowns, PHYTO5 skincare,  and a cookery class with E5 bakehouse.
