We define philanthropy as the giving of resources in an engaged and strategic way for maximum impact and in a tax efficient manner. It can include the giving of money, assets, time, talent, voice and one’s social capital. We believe in the power of philanthropy as a great social connector and the source of many great opportunities.

CBT's Strategic Review: Conversation with stakeholders working on philanthropy

18

9:30 am

This meeting is an opportunity to hear from policy makers and other stakeholders, with an interest in encouraging philanthropy, on the work that CBT should be considering in this area as part of its next funding strategy.

Only policy makers and other stakeholders working on matters relating to philanthropy should attend.

CBT have organised these conversations to gain your views on the following questions broadly speaking:

  • What kind of funder do we need to be from 2018 onwards; learning from what we do now and thinking about the approaches we will need to adopt in the future?
  • London should be a city that works for everyone: how do you make this a reality, and what role does CBT have to play in achieving this?
  • What is CBT’s role and place within the London funding ecology; and how do we use our assets to their best effect?
  • How do we balance the concepts of interdependence and independence when working in a system; whilst ensuring that Londoners are at the heart of it all?

Each meeting will begin with a short presentation about our current work and ethos, as well as an overview of how the review is being conducted.

Due to the limited capacity, we ask that organisations only send one representative to the meetings. Further meetings will be planned for 2017 too.

You can also share your views through our website, email (sufina.ahmad@cityoflondon.gov.uk), social media and our online survey which is due in November 2016.

A full agenda, detailing what will be covered in the meeting, will be sent to attendees closer to the time.
