An ageing population of billionaires could lead to an upsurge in philanthropic activities according to a new report released by UBS and PWC. The UBS/PWC Billionaires: Master Architects of great wealth and lasting legacies report explains that the last 35 years have seen a second gilded age of wealth creation comparable to the early 20th century and may lead to a similar wave of philanthropy as seen with pioneers such as Carnegie and Rockefeller.
We define philanthropy as the giving of resources in an engaged and strategic way for maximum impact and in a tax efficient manner. It can include the giving of money, assets, time, talent, voice and one’s social capital. We believe in the power of philanthropy as a great social connector and the source of many great opportunities.
