Donors with £10k or more to invest can leverage their philanthropy at least four times by contributing to the ‘Managed Champion Fund’ in the annual online match funding Big Give Christmas Challenge.
There are five funds to choose from supporting pre-selected charities across five causes: International development, the UK, arts, environment & animals and smaller charities.
The deadline to commit is Friday 4th November.
Sir Alec Reed CBE, founder and Chair of the Big Give, says: “The power of match funding through the Big Give is simply too good to keep to myself, and I would be delighted to share it with you as we safeguard the future of the charities closest to our hearts.”
Since it was established in 2007, the Big Give has helped to raise over £74 million for UK-registered charities primarily through online match funding campaigns.
Contributions to the Managed Champion Funds will be used as ‘matching funds’ to double online donations during the live Christmas Challenge campaign and those from the charities’ own major donors. This year, the campaign will run for 72 hours, launching at midday on Giving Tuesday, 29th November and closing on Friday 2nd December.
Research commissioned by the Big Give (2016) into the effect of match funding found
- More people give when their donations are match-funded - 84% of respondents
- Some donors give more when their donations are match-funded - 1 in 3 respondents
- Match funding is currently the most likely factor to make donors give more - rated most highly by respondents
