We define philanthropy as the giving of resources in an engaged and strategic way for maximum impact and in a tax efficient manner. It can include the giving of money, assets, time, talent, voice and one’s social capital. We believe in the power of philanthropy as a great social connector and the source of many great opportunities.

About Caroline Fiennes

A physicist by background, Caroline’s absolute commitment is to empirical evidence about the effectiveness of charities and of donors themselves. Hence she founded Giving Evidence, a consultancy and campaign providing advice on giving based on evidence. Her book ‘It Ain’t What You Give, It’s The Way That You Give It (2012)’ shows how any donor can make the most of their charitable resources and has become essential reading.

Caroline has taught effective philanthropy at Yale and Oxford Universities, teaches at Cambridge University, and has taught professional tennis players and many public audiences. She works with companies, foundations and families on using evidence to improve their giving – choosing focus areas, strategies, partners, organizations to fund, and internal processes.
