We define philanthropy as the giving of resources in an engaged and strategic way for maximum impact and in a tax efficient manner. It can include the giving of money, assets, time, talent, voice and one’s social capital. We believe in the power of philanthropy as a great social connector and the source of many great opportunities.

City Philanthropy

A Wealth of Opportunity

Dame Fiona Woolf DBE

686th Lord Mayor of City of London, and Partner, CMS

“We can feel proud of the City’s long and varied history of philanthropic giving of both money and time. There is never any room for complacency, particularly now, as the City rises to its own challenges of what I called the “new normal” during my year as Lord Mayor – helping society cope with an expanding population, resource constraints, lack of infrastructure and climate change. Giving is not a “nice-to-have” that helps the City polish its tarnished reputation, it is what the City workers now want to do together – a huge, multi-faceted collaboration that will accelerate the pace of innovation and outcomes that will deal with some of the problems that government and business struggle with. I am proud to be part of it. I believe that together we have the collective energy to transform lives.”
